Why should I attend a John Contreras Physio workshop?
Our workshops aim to provide you with a current snapshot of the evidence base for exercise therapy. Each month we are avidly updating our content based on our research, clinical practice and discussions with experienced colleagues. We also frame exercise therapy within the biopsychosocial framework.
You will leave our workshops ready to take your new skills into the new working week and be ‘Monday ready'. Pilates and strength training need not be complex, just effective.
We love exercise! We love to talk all things exercise. Exercise is the best. Our workshops don't just show you an exercise, we delve into it. We not only discuss the evidence and research behind an exercise we also explore the various ways to modify, progress, regress, coach, facilitate an exercise.
Who can attend John Contreras PhysioR workshops?
All workshops offered by John Contreras Physio can open to any health or fitness professional. This includes physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, exercises scientists, osteopaths, myotherapists, sports scientists, strength and conditioning coaches and personal trainers. Material covered is pitched at the level of a health professional so having a sound knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics and pathophysiology will assist the learning process.
Students and new graduates are also welcome.
I am new to Pilates and/or Strength & Conditioning. Can I attend a workshop?
Of course! Our workshops are designed to provide you with the ideal introduction and guiding you through the most clinically relevant information. Our aim is to have you leaving with a clear understanding of how to apply the principles in an easy, effective manner.
I have done previous Pilates and/or S&C workshops before. What will I get out of attending an John Contreras Physio workshop?
Attending CPD events can be expensive, so we understand you want to ensure your investment provides dividends. Over the years we have had many clinicians with prior experience attend our workshops and enjoy the refreshing approach to their current repertoire as well as picking up some useful variations, clinical reasoning and program design concepts. What kind of Pilates exercises are covered in the workshops?
Our workshops cover a variety of both matwork and equipment exercises. The equipment used include the Reformer, Trapeze Table, Wunda Chair and small equipment such as Swiss Balls and other bits and pieces commonly used in Pilates. The exercises are those most commonly used within a Physiotherapy framework. So though they may not get you much social media kudos, your patients will benefit from them.
What kind of Strength & Conditioning exercises are covered in the workshops?
Our workshops cover exercises that use common strength training equipment such as barbells, dumbbell, power bands and kettlebell. We aim to discuss a range of options for each movement to suit the different type of clinics our attendees work in. Don't have a squat rack in your clinic - not a problem, we'll go through many other effective options with you. We aim to keep things simple and effective and focus on the exercises the large majority of your patients will be able to perform.
Are the workshops more theoretical or practical?
At John Contreras Physio we like to move. There is only so much sitting around that we can tolerate during a workshop. So we have designed workshops that keep you moving too. All our workshops are at least 70% practical, giving you the opportunity to learn the content. We aim to keep the theory during the workshop to the most important information and we'll provide you with some pre-reading beforehand.
How do I complete a John Contreras Physio Workshop?
All John Contreras Physio workshops are composed of both pre-recorded online modules that view prior to attending a face to face, practical workshop. Typically the online modules are available to course attendees four weeks prior to the schedules face to face workshop. Attendees will have 3 months access to the online modules so that you can always review material at your own pace.
How do I complete a John Contreras Physio online workshop?
All John Contreras Physio online courses are composed entirely of online modules that can be viewed once registered on the course. You will be provided with access to all the available modules in addition to a PDF workbook to assist your learning. Attendees will have 3 months access to the online modules. Will I receive a certification after attending a John Contreras Physio workshop?
At the conclusion of the workshop you'll receive a fancy certificate of attendance for your CPD portfolio.
Can John Contreras Physio provide a workshop specifically for my clinic?
